A PhotoBlog of our Asheville Trip!

Daddy, where are we going?
Emily - Getting the latest gossip from Gwen

Look, I can touch my nose with my tongue!

Lucie learning to beg just like Dakota taught her...

Study time for my beautiful college student (shhhh! no radio or singing at this point)
Mommy - Puhhlease pay attention to me!

At the B&B - my Mommy taught me to sit really well!
I was really excited that the B&B had doggie toys for me to play with!

Out to eat at Barley's Tap Room! We got the seat by the window with a view of the street which was really nice.
The view from my seat - very lovely indeed.A beer flight - 4 different beers from microbreweries in Western North Carolina!
Also from my view at Barley's - a guy wearing Neil's life skills pants!

After dinner, mesmerized by the peanut butter cup chocolates at Chocolate Fetish (Downtown Asheville)
Cool street performers (Emily was the paparazzi here). Check out the guy playing the rusty hand saw (Right)!

Saturday Morning, Blue Ridge Parkway - here we come!
Blue Ridge Parkway had a lot of tunnels and a lot of curves - very fun for me.
Dakota enjoyed the drive too.
Lucie likes to hide in the floorboard while riding.
It's very difficult to get two dogs to pose at the same time.
Tangled up in dog leashes...

My beautiful wife!Em with her two puppies

First Stop - Looking Glass Falls, just off Highway 276
Little did I know that my outfit would look like the guy on the left later this evening.
Pic of the Family in front of the falls. Dakota and Lucie got a lot of attention, especially from the bikers and kids.
Em and Lucie in front of the falls
Pic of the Looking Glass Falls - too bad those kids were in it or else this might make a good wall print.
On the road again, rolling out the red carpet...
Em's tongue is not so long.

Hiking back to Moore Cove Falls, just up the road off HWY 276
Moore Cove Falls. Our visit was cut short by a yellow jacket nest next to a tree on the trail.
The dogs were very thirsty. Here is Dakota burying her head in her water bowl.

After hiking, the dogs were exhausted...
Lucie is sacked out!
Walked around Downtown Asheville and saw Basilica of St. Lawrence.
Self-Timed Pic outside of our room at the B&B
From the top of our parking deck, a view of Downtown Asheville, prior to eating dinner

The view from our table at Posano's...

Em and I at dinner. I told you I would look like that Levi Jeans model we saw earlier, haha.
Glamour Shot for Em on top of parking deck after dinner!
Another shot, these were two of my favorites. I have the most beautiful wife in the world!

So tired after a great weekend, here is Lucie on the ride home.

Thanks for looking/reading and I hope you enjoyed!

Lucie Penny!

Meet: Lucie Penny, Minted June 20, 2010.

Lucie is the latest addition to the Penny household. She is an eight week old, brindle Boxer puppy! We chose to name her Lucie because 1) we like the name Lucy 2) we will always love our honeymoon destination, St. Lucia.

We'd been working with a Boxer rescue organization for the past few weeks looking for a second dog. After getting our hearts broken over our first choice, we became frustrated with the process of finding another dog. We had tossed around the idea of a puppy and suddenly last Sunday decided it was the day. Matt had contacted Dakota's breeder a few days before. He had coincidentally responded that a new litter of boxer puppies was ready for release that very week. He hadn't even released the puppies to the public yet. We made our way down to Godwin, NC (just north of Fayetteville) to Black Creek Kennels. They let us introduce Dakota to a few puppies, but I was immediately drawn to the smallest of the bunch- little Lucie! A neat fact: Dakota and Lucie are actually bred from the same daddy!

Home she went for a whirlwind week of family introductions and playtime with her sister. Dakota is settling in to her new life as a role model and Lucie's personal pillow. Dakota likes to play rope tug-of-war with Lucie standing completely beneath her. Dakota has had her moments of jealousy with all the attention Lucie is getting. She was even jealous of during Lucie's vet exam today!

Some puppy pictures below!
